Systems with 32 or fewer devices * can be upgraded free of charge from the (axis camera station 3 and 4) channel license to the core device license.
Large systems with more than 32 devices complete all device to universal device license upgrades by purchasing axis camera station 4 to universal upgrade license (electronic license item number: 0879-040).

How many permits do I need?

Starting with axis camera station 5.0, each axis device requires an axis camera station core device or universal device license. For third-party cameras, a universal device license is required for each IP address.
Some axis webcams contain multiple picture sensors, and they only need one device license.

PT PTZ cameras (such as axis q87 Series) are two independent cameras sold in bundle, so two equipment licenses are required in axis camera station.

How to purchase a license?

Electronic license
Axis camera station licenses are also available in electronic form, which is the recommended way for licenses. If you order an electronic license, there will be no physical delivery. Compared with traditional software license, e-license saves delivery time, delivery cost, distribution cost, storage space and reduces the impact on the environment.
Any number of licenses can be ordered at a time (for example, 9 core device licenses, 57 universal device licenses...) , but each server must use a separate order.
Traditional license
Regular licenses offer 1, 4, 16, or 32 core device license packages and 1, 4, 10, or 20 universal device license packages, except in North America (please use electronic license replacement). Each system * supports up to 32 core device licenses. There is no limit to the number of universal device licenses added to the axis camera station server.

The core device license applies to axis devices such as axis webcams.

Universal device license
The universal device license adds scalability * and third-party device support for more than 32 devices per system.

Free upgrade from (axis camera station 3 and 4) channel license to core device license (up to 32 devices per system *).
System upgrades for more than 32 devices are accomplished by purchasing an axis camera station 4 to universal upgrade license.
With axis camera station core to universal upgrade license, core device license can be upgraded to universal device license. It is mainly used to merge two or more version 5 systems. One of these licenses is combined with a standard core license to form a universal license. Do not use this for upgrades to previous versions of axis camera station. E-Cert article number: 0879-030. Printed license article number (not available in North America, please use e-Cert instead in this region): 1 pack, 0879-130. 5 pack, 0879-140. 10 pack, 0879-150. 20 packs, 0879-160.
