Indoor use
Ethernet limits the cable length between the switch and the camera to 100 meters (328 feet). When longer distances are needed, switches are usually used as repeaters, or fiber optics may be used.
To overcome this distance limit, the network installation personnel only need to connect the axis t8129 Poe extender with Cat-5e or CAT-6 cable in a row, and hand over the rest to the camera. Depending on the mid span and camera type, the total length of the connection can be 200-400 meters (656-1312 feet).

The axis t8129 Poe extender is compatible with all axis network video products that support Poe and complies with IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards. Check the installation tab for information about typical connections to axis network video products.
Range
Range depends on power, so a 25 Watt PTZ hemispherical camera using an axis t8129 may be located 200 meters (656 feet) away. Alternatively, by assembling three axis t8129's at 100 meters (328 feet) intervals, the cable length of a normal 5-watt webcam can be extended to up to 400 meters (1312 feet). No additional power supply equipment
The axis t8129 does not require any additional power supplies, and the connected webcam is fed through a single Poe switch or mid span. It provides two plug-in Ethernet ports, both of which automatically configure link speed, duplex and crossover, and maintain full rate network throughput.
