Most Praesideo systems are equipped with plastic fiber optic
interfaces. Plastic optical fiber interface is mainly used to connect nodes with a distance of less than 50 meters. If the distance is more than 50 meters, glass fiber optic cable is required. Fiber optic interfaces can be converted from plastic fiber optic cables to glass fiber optic cables, and vice versa. These fiber-optic interfaces have one power input for power supply to the remote network part and two control inputs. The control input can transmit the monitoring information related to the power supply equipment connected with the optical fiber interface. Basic functions these devices connect glass fiber optic cables to plastic fiber optic cables and support redundant cabling topologies. In many applications, this is necessary because glass fiber has a much longer connection distance than plastic optical fiber. After conversion to glass fiber, you must switch back to plastic fiber before connecting other Praesideo devices, because they all use plastic fiber interfaces. This means that these devices must always be used in pairs. Each interface can use an external 48 VDC power supply to power itself or to power remote components of the network. If there is no external power supply, the fiber interface is powered by the network controller. PRS  ̄ fin and PRS  ̄ fins have two control inputs. These inputs can be used to accept a fault output from an external power supply (UPS), thus allowing the device to monitor the power supply and report the fault to the network controller. The benefit of this is that the device does not occupy one of the 60 possible addresses in the network.
